Itinerary

Day 1: Ha Noi – Arrival

Your driver will meet you at the hotel and you will depart on your road journey to the airport for the flight to Ha Noi by a private air conditioned vehicle

Arrival to Ha Noi international airport your driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel in the exciting.

After check in you have some time to freshen up and enjoy the atmosphere of Ha Noi

Day 2: Ha Noi city tour - Over night Train - Lao Cai - Sa Pa (B/L)

0800h: Guide will meet you at your hotel & you will depart to visit:

Ho Chi Minh Complex: Completed in 1975 the complex contains Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum, his former stilt house residence, the Presidential Palace and the Ho Chi Minh museum.

Next stop is a visit to the Temple of Literature: Originally built as a temple to Confucius, this is the site of Vietnam’s first university dating back to 1070. Inside are the stone steles used for ceremonies and mounted on the backs of turtles and inscribed with the names of the university’s graduates. The complex is divided into five courtyards which originally would have been reserved for the Emperor and his mandarins. One of the courtyards contains the statue of Confucius guarded by two beautiful bronze storks standing on turtles. The temple highlights the importance Vietnamese society has placed on education.

1200h: A delicious set menu lunch will be provided for you in a local restaurant.

1300h: Your tour recommences with a visit to the Museum of Ethnology which is widely acknowledged as the best in Vietnam and has an extensive display dedicated to Vietnam’s 54 Ethnic minority peoples.

Then it is on to the Ngoc Son Temple and Hoan Kiem Lake: The Ngoc Son temple is set on a tiny island on the Hoan Kiem Lake and was erected in 18th century. The temple is reached by crossing the Huc Bridge which literally means “Place Touched by Morning Sunbeams”. Hoan Kiem Lake is a focal point of the city and the source of many legends including the legend of the returned sword which dates back to the 15th century and refers to a magical sword used to free Vietnam from Chinese rule.

The Old Quarter, also known as the 36 streets, is a bustling area of narrow streets home to literally thousands of small businesses and street vendors, selling a wide variety of goods. Originally each of the 36 streets names’ were related to the products being sold there. Hence you can walk from Fish Street to Tin Street to Bamboo Street and you will enjoy exploring the area while riding in a traditional cyclo.

17.00h: Back to hotel for take the shower and take the break

2000h: Check out of the hotel & our driver will pick up from your hotel and transfer you to Hanoi train station.

2100h: Train departure and sleep the night in a soft sleeper cabin on board the train. Travel time approx 9 hrs

Overnight is on the train in soft sleeper compartments containing 4 berths.

Day 3: Lao Cai - Sapa – Y Linh Ho – Ta Van (B/L/D)

0600h: Arrive at Lao Cai railway station where you will be met and transferred by shuttle bus to the township of Sapa which takes approx one hour.

0800h: Following breakfast, a morning shower and leaving your main luggage at the hotel, it is time to depart on a slow 6Km walk following the Muong Hoa Valley to the home of the Black H’mong peoples in Y Linh Ho Village . After a short break, everyone will continue walking for another 2 Km to Lao Chai village which home to the H’mong people.

Lunch will be provided by a local family before your journey continues with a walk through the terraced rice fields to Ta Van village and visit the Dzay minority peoples. It is a chance to learn something of the local culture and observe daily life in the village. You will also get to see the local style of building architecture and take in some magnificent views of the area. Return to Sapa by car and overnight in the hotel.

Day 4: Sapa - Cat Cat & Sin Chai - Lao Cai ( B/L/D)

Enjoy views of the magnificent landscape with your morning coffee and enjoy a delicious breakfast.

After breakfast you will start off on a slow walk to Cat Cat Village approximately 2 Km South-West of Sapa. Take some time to enjoy the view from the bottom of the stunning Tien Sa water fall. And view the hydro Electric power station constructed by the French during the time of their colonial rule in Vietnam.

A picnic lunch will be provided by the side of the river before walking another 6 km to Sin Chai, village located at the foot of Fansipan Mountain which is known as “the roof of Vietnam and Indochina”. From there you can enjoy the stunning landscapes before returning to Sapa by jeep.

Once back in Sapa there will be time for a shower and dinner at the hotel before transferring to Lao Cai train station for the night train back to Ha Noi.

Please Note: Some rooms will be booked for everyone to shower at the hotel before dinner.

2100h: Train departs for Hanoi and overnight is in a soft sleeper cabin on board the train. Train departs.

Day 5: Lao Cai Ha Noi – Ha Long Bay(B/L/D)

0500h: Arrive at Hanoi train station and transfer to the hotel where you can have a shower and enjoy breakfast.

08.00h: Pick up from your hotel in Hanoi and start the road journey to Ha long Bay. Along the way you will enjoy the peaceful scenery as you travel through the countryside and farmlands of the Red River Delta.

1230h: Arrive at Hon Gai wharf where you will meet the Captain and crew and enjoy a welcome drink while you receive your cruise briefing and safety instructions before checking and being shown to your cabin.

1300h: A delicious fresh seafood will be served as the boat passes through many of the thousands of islands and islets within Ha Long Bay towards Bai Tu Long Bay and Vong Vieng floating village.

1530h: Drop anchor at the picturesque Vong Vieng floating village and visit local houses, fish farms, schools and have a chat with the friendly locals. You will have time for a swim or go paddling in a kayak on the calm waters of the bay before returning to the main boat.

1700h: Back on board, enjoy the sunset and continue cruising to Luom Bo where you will enjoy dinner and overnight on board the boat.

Day 6: Bai Tu Long Bay (B/L/D)

Relax and enjoy cruising to some untouched areas for kayaking, swimming or walking to the top of some of the higher peaks for panoramic views of Bai Tu Long & Ha Long Bay.

0630h: Enjoy morning views of the bay and marvel at the unique landscape while you have your morning cup of tea or coffee and a delicious breakfast.

0800h: After breakfast you will transfer by tender to the smaller day boat for further cruising with your English speaking guide to visit some untouched and interesting areas. 1300h - Lunch is served on board and after you will kayak to Bat Cave and explore the natural wonder of the World Heritage area in your own time.

1600h: Return to your luxury cruise boat and relax before dinner and spending overnight on board the Junk.

Day 7: Sung Sot Cave – Ha Long Bay - Ha Noi – Hue (B/L)

0630h: Enjoy your breakfast with a cup of tea or coffee while cruising on the bay.

0830h: Explore the mystery of Sung Sot cave, one of the most beautiful caves in Ha Long Bay. Sung Sot or “Surprise Cave” is located on Bo Hon Island, and is one of the most spectacular and largest caves in Ha Long Bay. The cave is reached by climbing approximately 100 stone steps and the journey up allows some excellent views of the bay below.

0930h: Back on board you will continue cruising while you enjoy the stunning views of the Bay and relax.

1030h: Lunch is served on board while cruising back to the pier at Ha Long. Unfortunately, after lunch it will be time to check out ready to start your journey back the Hanoi.

1200h: Arrive Hon Gai wharf and after saying your farewells to the crew and new friends, it will be time to start the drive back to Hanoi.

1630h: Arrive to your hotel in Hanoi. Free time until the driver will pick you up from your hotel in Ha Noi to international airport for flight to Hue. Arrival to Hue and over night in Hue

Day 8: Hue City Tour – Hoi An (B/l)

Once the ancient capital of Vietnam, Hue is the home of several wonderfully interesting world heritage listed sites and the area has a lot to offer visitors. Although many historical sites were damaged in the recent war with America it is still a fascinating place.

08.00h: Your English speaking guide will meet you at the Hotel and take you on an interesting tour of the city and perfume river. You will visit the impressive complex of the Imperial Citadel. Built in the 19th Century and surrounded by high stone walls and moat, the Citadel was once the exclusive home of the Nguyen Imperial Family. It is similar to Chinas’ Forbidden City and is not to be missed. You will also take a cruise on the famous Perfume River and visit Bao Dai and Tu Duc tombs

14.00h: Back from the tour

15.00h: The car will pick you up from your hotel and travel to Hoi An

18.00h: Arrival to Hoi An

Day 9: Hoi An Ancient Town – Dinner Cruise (B/L)

0800h: Your English speaking guide will meet you at your hotel and take you on a two hour walking tour of Hoi An Old Town. Famous for its quant mixture of Chinese, Japanese and European architecture, the old town was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1999. You will visit, the Japanese bridge built in the 16th century and famous for being the only covered bridge known to incorporate a Buddhist pagoda, the 200 year old Tan Ky house, museum of trade ceramics and several other historical sites. You will then have free time to continue exploring the old town or to go shopping for those special items.

1845h: Transport will arrive at your hotel to transfer you to your 90 minute evening dinner cruise on the Thu Bon River. Your cruise boat has an onboard kitchen and bar and you can sit back and enjoy views of the old town while enjoying a set menu of local delights. Over night in Hoi An

Day 10: Hoi An - My Son tour (B)

0830h: Start from your hotel and travel 50km from Hoi An to My Son holy land in a private air conditioned vehicle with your English speaking guide. My Son was a major religious site for the people of the ancient Champa Kingdom which flourished between the 4th and 13th centuries The Champa people ruled Central Vietnam until it was finally annexed by the Vietnamese in the 19th Century.

The Champa King lived in the political capital of Tra Kieu (whose commercial capital was the port of Hoi An) and so the My Son complex became the most important temples of the Champa Kingdom. Bricks were used to build the temples without the aid of mortar and sculptures of gods, priests, animals, and scenes of mythical battles adorned the walls. The temples were places of worship to the Hindu God Vishnu.

My Son was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999.

After exploring the ruins and history of My Son and viewing a short traditional Champa Peoples music concert, you will start your journey back to Hoi An arriving at approximately 1230h.

Day 11: Hoi An Da Nang - Ho Chi Minh (B)

Arrival to Ho Chi Minh airport your driver will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel in Ho Chi Minh Overnight in Ho Chi Minh.

Day 12: Cu Chi -Ho Chi Minh City Tour (B/L)

Soak up cultural delights of bustling Ho Chi Minh City on your full day adventure. Ramble though the streets of Chinatown and discover the real Ho Chi Minh City, from its traumatic past to its beautiful French-colonial architecture and discover the cultural heart and hidden treasures that dot this busy city.

0800h: You will be picked from your hotel and travel out of Ho Chi Minh city to visit the famous Vietcong tunnels at Cu Chi. This incredible system, covering nearly 250km, was shelter to over 16,000 communist guerillas during the American war. You will gain an insight into the tenacity of the soldiers and have the opportunity to go inside the tunnels.

Lunch will be in HCMC and once you finish lunch you visit the haunting but very interesting War Remnants Museum and take a walking tour to Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, General Post office, Opera house and downtown Saigon. The War Remnants Museum was originally opened in September 1975; it displays items from the American War. In the courtyard there are some larger exhibits including a F5A fighter and a UH1-Huey helicopter. The Reunification Palace, formerly known as the Presidential Palace was the sight of South Vietnam's surrender in April 1975. Notre Dame Cathedral, General Post Office and the Opera House are beautiful examples of architecture from the French colonial period. The trip is designed to give you an insight into the history, culture and the daily life activities of the locals in Ho Chi Minh City.

Return to your hotel at approximately 1630h and overnight at the Hotel.

Day 13: HCMC - Cai Be - Vinh Long - Tra On (B/L/D)

0800h: In the morning your guide will pick you up at your hotel and you will travel by road to Can Tho or Cai Be.

1200h: You will board your wooden river cruise vessel and after a refreshing welcome drink you will be shown the on-board facilities and taken to your cabin.

You will get under way as lunch is being served and you can sit back and watch the fantastic scenery and the daily life of the Mekong people.

In the afternoon you will stop for a guided walk through a village and the surrounding fruit orchards or rice fields. You will also have the opportunity to meet some of the locals and sample some of the local produce and fresh fruit.

Back on board and enjoy a drink at the bar or relax on deck as the sun sets over the magnificent water landscape of the Mekong River.

The boat will anchor for the night. The day ends with a delicious on-board dinner. You stay overnight on board your floating hotel in the Mekong Delta.

Day 14: Tra On - Cai Rang - Can Tho – Chau Doc (B/L)

Wake up well rested to the sound of the Mekong river and get ready for another exciting day of sightseeing in the Mekong Delta

0630h: You will set off for a sunrise cruise. While enjoying an early breakfast you can watch the locals go about their daily work doing everything from drying exotic fruits to building wooden ships in yards on the banks of the river.

After breakfast, you will transfer to a smaller sampan boat and visit Cai Be or Cai Rang floating markets which are the region’s busiest and most lively markets. Marvel at the sheer abundance of exotic fruits, vegetables and skillfully handcrafted regional products. You will have the opportunity to talk and bargaining with the merchants. Next is a visit to some of the local candy and cake making factories & cruise through the green water landscape to see local houses and fruit orchards.

1130h: Lunch will be in a local restaurant and afterwards you can sit back in the shuttle bus and watch the water landscape from a land perspective until you reach Chau Doc where you will overnight in your hotel.

Day 15: Chau Doc - Across the border towards Cambodia-Phomphenh (B)

0700h: A driver will pick you up from your hotel to take you to the pier where you will board a speed boat for an exciting ride to Phnom Penh

1400h: Arrive Phnom Penh and transfer to your hotel.

Overnight in your hotel in Phomphenh.

Day 15: Killing Fields - Tuol Sleng Museum – Russian Markets (B/L)

0800h: Your guide will meet you at your hotel and you will drive approx 15 km south to the killing fields of Choeung Ek. In the short period between 1975 & 1978 approximately 17.000 men, women and children were detained and tortured at the notorious S-21 prison and transported to the extermination camp of Choeung Ek. Prisoners were often bludgeoned to death to avoid the cost of bullets and fragments of human bone are scattered around the area. Over 8000 skulls arranged by sex and age, are visible behind the clear glass panels of the Memorial which was built in 1988.

After lunch in a local restaurant, you will return to Phnom Penh and visit the Notorious Tuol Sleng Museum. In 1975, Tuol Svay Prey High School was taken over by Pol Pot's security forces and became the infamous S-21 prison. S-21 became the largest detention centre and torture facility in the country where more than 17.000 people were held prior to being executed. Some detainees who died during torture were buried in mass graves in the prison grounds. Covering the walls of the museum from floor to ceiling are photographs of men, women and children and unfortunately, virtually all the people pictured were killed by the security forces.

Next is a vist to the Russian Market which is one of the premier shopping destinations in the Cambodian capital. Known as Psar Tuol Tom Pong, it earned its nickname in the 1980s, when Russians were the only tourists in Cambodia. You will find a wide range of goods on sale and is a great place to shop for your souvenirs

1700h: Return to your hotel and overnight in Phnom Penh.

Day 17: Phnom Penh – Siem Reap (B)

0900h: Your driver will meet you at the hotel and you will depart on your road journey to Siem Reap in a private air conditioned vehicle.

1500h: Arrive Siem Reap and check in to your hotel where you will overnight.

Day 18: Siem Reap - Angkor Wat Temple (B/L)

0730h: After breakfast your English speaking guide will meet you at your hotel and you will leave to visit the most famous of all the temples on the plain of Angkor, Angkor Wat.

The temple complex covers 81 hectares and is comparable in size to the Imperial Palace in Beijing. Its distinctive five towers are emblazoned on the Cambodian flag and the 12th century masterpiece is considered by art historians, to be the prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture. Angkor Wat's five towers symbolize Meru's five peaks and the enclosed wall represents the mountains at the edge of the world. The surrounding moat is to represent the ocean beyond.

Lunch at local restaurant and in the afternoon and visit the ancient capital of Angkor Thom (12th century). See the South Gate with its huge statues depicting the churning of the ocean of milk, the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephants Terrace, the Terrace of the Leper King and Bayon Temple (unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara). Dinner is at a local restaurant where you will be entertained with a traditional Khmer folk performance of Apsara.

Overnight in Siem Reap

Day 19: Siem Reap – Tonle Sap Lake – Elephant riding (B)

0830h: After meeting your guide at the hotel you will depart to visit the Khmer Village and enjoy the views of rice fields & palm trees while you take in the fresh air.

Next you will take a ride in a boat on Tonle Sap Lake, Known as the "Great Lake" of Cambodia and one of the largest in Asia. During the short cruise you be able to observe life on the water as you pass by floating villages complete with schools, restaurants, and hospitals.

1500h: Depart for the South Gate at Angkor Thom and climb aboard an Elephant to take for a slow ride to Bayon Temple. Built in the late 12th or early 13th century, Bayon Temple is very known, mainly due to the level of decoration which adorns the temple. The temple is also decorated with many faces carved into the stone of the towers.

1630h: Return to Siem Reap

Day 20: Siem Reap – Luang Prabang (B)

Free time until you need to transfer to Siem Reap International Airport to board your flight to Luang Prabang

Arrive Luang Prabang where a driver will meet you and transfer you to your hotel.

Rest of the afternoon is free time to relax or start exploring the area around your hotel. Over night in Luang Prabang

DAY 21: Luang Prabang –-Kuang Waterfalls(B/L)

08.30h: The tour guide will meeting at your hotel for the tour. Start a scenic fifty minute drive out of the city, up mountains, and through mountainous jungle and farmland passing Hmong and Khmu hill-tribes along the way.

We will visit and tour first a Khmu and then Hmong traditional hill-tribe village before we begin our trek. Our experienced guides will share cultural and historical information about the Hmong and Khmu people indigenous to this area and will answer your questions.

Begin our 3 hour hike taking us through rich jungle, to a natural spring which is the source of the Kuang-Si waterfall to the top of the falls with a fantastic view, and ultimately down to the waterfall itself.

After lunche we will take a good long swim in the many pools running from the falls, and take a plunge off the rope swing at its biggest pool. Don’t forget to visit the bear sanctuary before you go.

04.30h: Back to your hotel

Day 22: Pak Ou Caves day tour (B/L)

0800h: After meeting with your guide at the hotel, you will enjoy a short-guided tour to the city’s oldest temple of Wat Sene. You will also visit the magnificent Wat Xiengthong, built to traditional style, the low sweeping roof represents classical Laotian architecture.

Next is a cruise upstream on the Mekong River which gives you a breathtaking view of the tranquil countryside as well as time to explore the mysterious Pak Ou Caves. They are two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by pilgrims. Along the way, we stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where they make the local rice wine.

On the return journey, you will travel a short distance to Ban Phanom, a small village known for its hand weaving.

Overnight in Luang Prabang

Day 23 : Departure (B)

Free time until the driver will meet you at your hotel and take you to Da Nang airport where you will board your flight to Singapore
