Highlight :

My Son was once the spiritual heart of the Kingdom of Champa peoples who occupied what is now the central area of Vietnam for over a thousand years. The builders of My Son gained their cultural and spiritual influences almost exclusively from India in the form of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Shiva was the central figure of worship and his images are common in what remains of the Cham monuments. My Son is situated in an attractive valley, well away from any other buildings in a clearing surrounded by tropical jungle. The peaceful surroundings give you a feeling of stepping back to the time when then area was a major religious complex and even in their current state, the towers are impressive, and the scale of building makes its religious significance obvious.

My Lai : Vietnam War mass murder of between 347 and 504 unarmed civilians in South Vietnam on March 16, 1968, by United States Army soldiers of "Charlie" Company of 1st Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 11th Brigade of the Americal Division. Victims included women, men, children, and infants. Some of the women were gang-raped and their bodies were later found to be mutilated[2] and many women.

Itinerary

  • 0700h: The tour departs from your hotel where you will be met by your guide in a private air conditioned car. My Lai is a small village, 2.5 hours drive from Hoi An and is infamous as being where American troops massacred 504 Vietnamese civilians on16 march 1968. Most of the victims were women, children and the elderly. Sadly, there was evidence many of the women had been raped prior to being massacred.
  • You will spend an hour in My Lai where you can walk through the peace park and visit the museum set up as a Monument to the massacre.
  • Lunch will be at a local restaurant on the banks of the Tra Khuc river in Quang Ngai city before traveling on to My Son Holy land. My Son was the major site in Vietnam for the people of the ancient Champa Kingdom which flourished between the 4th and 13th centuries. My Son was the capital and religious centre of the Champa peoples.
  •
  • After exploring the complex of ancient ruins at My Son, you will return to Hoi An.
  • 1700h: Arrive Hoi An (approximately).
