Up until the early 20th century, Nha Trang was virtually untouched with many wild animals roaming freely in the area. However, Nha Trang has developed rapidly and is increasing in popularity every year as news of how wonderful the beaches in the area are spreads quickly. It has now become possibly the most famous beach area in Vietnam which is sometimes referred to as the Mediterranean of Vietnam due its mainly calm and warm waters all year round.

Nha Trang reportedly has the lowest humidity of any area in Vietnam and is located on the coast approximately 440Kms North of HCMC with a population of around 400,000. It is situated on the Bay of Nha Trang which has been voted one of the loveliest bays in the world. The bay is surrounded by lush mountains forming the bay into a crescent shape and the warm shallow waters make it an ideal place for swimming, scuba diving or simply relaxing for 10 months of the year. At last count there are more than 20 dive shops in town that will take care of all your diving and snorkelling needs.

There are 5 main islands and a collection of smaller ones just off the coast creating further opportunities for those wishing to go snorkelling or Scuba diving during their visit to this truly magical area. Several luxury resorts have been established on the 5 major islands but accommodation of all types and prices to suit everyone are available in and around Nha Trang.

Away from the beach there are many other attractions to visit in and around Nha Trang which include: National Oceanographic Museum, Long Son Pagoda, Bao Dai Villa, Yang Bay water falls, Thap Ba Mud bath and many more.

Nha Trang is easily accessible by air, train or bus (sleeper buses are available) and takes approximately 7 hours by train or 9 hours by bus from HCMC. The airport is located 30Kms out of town and it will cost you roughly 300k VND to reach the city by taxi but the best way is to have your hotel arrange a car to meet you and take you to your hotel. The train station is located on the Northern side of town and the bus station is roughly a 10 minute walk to the centre or you can ask the driver to drop you in the main tourist area near Bien Thu.
